I have the honor to acknowledge receipt of your communi- cation, number 13774/1913, dated inst:, and thank you for the information given regarding the Commission of which I read a
notice inthe newspapers. The secretary's name, however,
not appear to be correctly given there, as I find no such name
as fidlan in the Colonial Office List.

Sir Henry Maxwell, and of my reply, bearing on the causation
of fevers &o.
I do not know if such evidence would be likely
to be received by the Commission,
1 was examined in Hong kong about 1866, by a Commission appointed by the Governor to enquire into the cause of an out-
brake of fever in that Colony on the previous year,
